Colours of the Sunrise

17/03/12

The surf had great shape but was  just a little too small to surf today… The flip side was that, the sunrise was amazing. A colour show that made you feel good to be alive… Well worth the trip to the beach even if you didn’t get your feet wet.

Dead Whale at a Tasmanian surf beach

The remains of a whale have been leftfor nature to deal with at a popular Tasmanian surf spot. The whale remains are at South Arms, RSLs surf spot. I don’t think I will be surfing there for a while….

It was amazing to get so close to the whale and get an idea on how big they can get. It would have been a better experience if the whale was in the water and alive, but it was still fascinating to see it…

Winter Getaway

A winter getaway is a must for a Surfer living in Tasmania. It’s just a matter of when to take the trip and for how long…

Recently I was given a one week opportunity to hit Northern NSW and see if the waves and the weather would co-operate with our timing.

Overall they did… 2-4ft waves the whole time, warm water, and plenty of sunshine!!! We surfed beachies and point breaks, with the famous Angourie Pt being the spot to hit each morning and to then make the days plans according to the swell size.

You could surf all day in a 3/2 steamer, and on the hottest days you could even have a splash in a spring suit… It was such a relief to get out of 4/3 steamers, hoods, boots and gloves…

Winter Waves In Tasmania

What a weekend of surf and cold weather we have had in Hobart, Tasmania…

The local point breaks show cased some great waves for all the  Tassy surfers to have some fun. The wetsuits needed to be thick as the snow was falling fast on Mt Wellington.
